3 x 3 Round Rug Pad
A 3' round rug is the little circle that softens a hard corner — inside the door, under a small round table, beside the tub. Every pad below comes in a 3' round and is cut to fit your rug free, trimmed about an inch in from the edge all the way around so it never shows. Start with what your floor needs: grip, cushion, or a little of both.

What is a 3 x 3 round rug pad?
It's the layer that goes between your round rug and the floor, cut in a circle about an inch smaller than the rug all the way around — roughly 2 inches less across — so it stays completely hidden. It does three jobs: it holds the rug in place (round rugs love to slowly rotate), it protects the floor underneath, and it makes the rug feel better underfoot.
Where a 3' round rug works best
Three feet round fits the spots rectangles can't:
- Entryways — a soft landing that doesn't fight the door swing.
- Under a small round side table — the rug follows the table's shape.
- Bathrooms — a warm circle on cold tile.
- Nurseries — a small play circle in the corner.
Why bother with a pad at all?
1. The rug stops moving
Even a big rug creeps. Corners curl, edges wrinkle, and the whole thing slowly migrates across the room — especially where people walk. The right pad holds it flat.
2. Your floor is protected
A rug's backing is rougher than it looks. Left sitting on hardwood, laminate or tile for a few years, it can wear the finish down. A pad puts something soft in between.
3. It feels better
A thin rug straight on a hard floor feels like a sheet. Put a felt pad under it and it feels like a rug.
4. The rug lasts longer
Every step grinds a rug against the floor. A pad takes that wear instead, so the fibers hold up longer.
5. The room gets quieter
Felt soaks up footstep noise — worth having upstairs, or in an apartment.
How to choose the right pad
Hardwood, laminate, tile and vinyl floors
Round rugs move in a sneaky way — they don't just slide, they slowly rotate. If yours creeps or turns, start with grip:
- Felt and Rubber 1/4" and Felt and Rubber 5/16" — felt on top for cushion, natural rubber underneath to hold the rug still.
- Extra Grip — thin and low-profile, made for grip first.
- Comfort & Grip — also low-profile, with a layer of cushion added.
Under a dining table
Chairs are the test: they slide in and out across the rug's edge all day, and they push the rug with them. Felt and Rubber holds the rug flat so chairs stay on it — and the felt cushions the chair legs' pressure on your floor.
On top of carpet
For a round rug over wall-to-wall carpet, use the Felt and Rubber pads. They give the rug a firm base so it stops wrinkling and crawling.
Radiant heated floors
Pick a breathable felt pad — the Choice Felt pads let the heat pass through instead of trapping it under the rug.
Picking a thickness
Thinner pads sit lower, which matters where chairs slide and at doorways. Thicker pads feel softer and quiet the room more. If the rug is mostly for looks under a table, go thinner; if feet land on it all day, go thicker.
Sizing tip: the pad should be smaller than the rug
About an inch smaller all the way around — that's what lets the rug's edge lie flat and keeps the pad out of sight. For a true 3' round rug, the pad comes out at roughly 2' 10" across.
You don't need to measure twice or trim anything yourself. Enter your rug's diameter on the product page and we cut the pad to fit, free.

Common questions
What size pad do I need for a 3' round rug?
About an inch smaller all the way around — roughly 2' 10" across. Order the 3' round and we cut it down to that for you. Or enter your rug's exact diameter, and we'll cut to that instead.
My rug isn't exactly round, or isn't exactly this diameter. Now what?
Measure straight across the middle — that's the diameter. Type the exact measurement into any pad's page and you'll see the price for your size; we cut to your number, not a catalog number.
Why does my round rug keep turning?
Every footstep twists a round rug a fraction of a degree, and there's no corner to square it against, so it slowly rotates. A grip pad — Felt and Rubber, or a thin grip pad — stops the turning.
Which pad should I get for hardwood floors?
Any pad on this page is safe for hardwood. Go Felt and Rubber if you want grip and cushion together, a grip pad for a thin non-slip layer, or Choice Felt if all you want is cushion.
Can I put a pad under a rug that's on carpet?
Yes — the Felt and Rubber pads are made for it. They keep the rug from shifting and wrinkling on top of the carpet.
Does custom cutting cost extra?
No. Cutting is included with every pad, and shipping is free anywhere in the continental US.
3 x 3 round questions from real homes
My entryway rug slowly rotates until it's crooked against the wall.
Round rugs spin a degree at a time — every footstep twists them a little. A grip pad (Extra Grip is the thin one) stops the rotation without adding height under the rug.
The little round rug by the door slides on the tile.
Extra Grip — at this size there's almost no rug weight to hold it down, so the pad does all the work. It's thin enough that the door still swings clear.
Is a 3' rug big enough under a small round table?
For a side or accent table, yes — accent tables sit in the middle of the rug instead of pulling chairs out, so a 3' circle under a table up to about 18 inches across is the standard pairing. For a dining table where chairs pull out, go up to the 4' or 5' round.
